House Arrest!

They might as well give me an ankle bracelet and call it house arrest. I have the swine flu!!!!!!! I woke up Friday morning not feeling well, and was running a fever. I knew the flu was going around, and seeing as how I work in doctors offices all day long, it was very likely I had been exposed to it. So I made an appointment and went and got swabbed. Which by the way...has anyone been swabbed yet in the nose? I'm pretty sure its a form of Chinese torture. It was terrible!!!!! I would rather give blood all day long that have to go through that again. Anyway...I have the dang flu! Doctor basically put me on house arrest for 7 days. Can't go anywhere, not supposed to be around anyone. Plenty of fluids, plenty of rest, you know the drill. They gave me Tamiflu and wanted Brian to take it also so that he wouldn't get it too.

The good thing is that Maggie is ok! I have a mild case so my fever hasn't gotten too high and I am able to keep food down. Those are the 2 things the doc worried about with me being pregnant. The bad news is...my baby shower was Saturday and we had to cancel it. The baby shower my dear friends worked months on. The baby shower my friends and family were coming from all over for. I can't even tell you how excited I was about the shower...which means I can't even tell you how disappointed I was when we had to cancel it. I know my main job right now is to take care of myself and Maggie...but what bad luck to get the flu on this one particular weekend. Oh well...its all part of God's plan right? I trust him!

So I am feeling much better! Yesterday was my worst day, but I can really tell I am starting to get well now. I have finally moved from the bed to the couch, so that's a good sign. ha! I can't even tell you how many movies I have watched in the past 5 days. Thank goodness for TBS movie weekend. They played some great ones! And we have been well taken care of by our mamma's! That's what mamma's are for, right?! They both brought over some delicious meals. And Alison and Ken brought over homemade bread last night so we are being spoiled. And of course Brian has been so excited because he hasn't had to cook...which is a good thing!!

I feel like so much has happened in the last week. I got another new car. Just traded in my white murano for a charcoal grey one, and its a year newer model. We were having some trouble with my white one, so the dealership gave us our money back and traded us into a newer and nicer one, and I love it!!

Most importantly, the crib came in!!! And her bedding came in!! And the drapes came in!! And we painted the changing table cream to match the crib. We decided not to glaze it...well actually we started to and then hated it, so decided to paint it instead. But the nursery is starting to look like a nursery now! We are still waiting on our chair and some other things, but the big stuff is in.

People have been bringing over gifts left and right. We really do appreciate all the love! Her room is starting to look like Toys R Us. After I opened everything, I tried to neatly arrange it in her room but that didn't happen, and it just turned into a big pile of toys and clothes that I need to sort out once I feel a little better! Any ideas on how to organize all her toys and stuffed animals? I think I may have to invest in some bins or big baskets or something. You know my OCD self will have to have an organized way to store everything!! We got some great clothes, and lots of necessities. We got the stroller, and car seat, and high chair! All very important items. They are so cute! Here is Sadie helping me open presents!

And Brian especially liked the hooded towel. He is going to kill me for this:)

And here was her closet before we got any shower presents...I am not even going to post an after picture. It looks like Katrina came through her room!

4D Ultrasound Pics!!

Here is our little beauty queen at 30 weeks! And guess what...she looks like me!!! Or so we think. She has my chubby cheeks and nose for sure! We thought with the last ultrasound that she was going to look like Brian, but I think we may have a mamma's girl on our hands!!! What do you think?!

More Shrimp Please

Well we did it. We went to Perdido with some friends of ours this past weekend. I woke up Friday with no fever, although I was still feeling a little sick, we went anyway. We know we won't get very many more weekends away, so we took advantage, and had a fabulous time!! Friday night we went to Lulu's, and had some wonderful shrimp. I have been craving shrimp lately. Saturday morning I woke up wanting more shrimp. I hope its ok for me to eat shrimp. My books don't mention it...oh well. That's pretty much all I ate the whole weekend! Saturday the boys played golf, and we layed out. Of course, I got burned! What is up with my prego skin...I usually come back from the beach with a tan but not anymore! Saturday night we went to Cosmo's, my very fave restaurant in Orange Beach! Here is a pic of a very pretty wedding we watched off the balcony of our condo.

And here are the latest pics...30 weeks and counting

Don't I look so happy in this last one? That's what happens to a swollen pregnant woman who no longer likes taking pictures! This may be the last one you get. All of our pictures are boring...its just Brian and me. I can't wait until we have a little munchkin to showcase!!!!!

I had my 30 week checkup yesterday. Maggie is still breech. Hoping for a switch a roo here shortly. Everything still good with me and the baby though. Doc has me doing kick counts at night. She says Maggie should kick 10 times in 2 hours after dinner. So I count them every night...and she usually hits 30 kicks in the first few minutes so I think we're good! She is one active little thing. I do wish she would turn around though. I am pretty sure she is just hanging out sitting on my bladder. Every once in a while, she gets a little attitude and decides to play soccer with it. Talk about a sharp pain shooting through your body! Ouch!!!!! But that's ok...I love her even more when she is playing soccer with my bladder. I am so ready for her to get here!!! Even though we don't have the nursery done at all. Still waiting on the crib to arrive. Should be next week or so. And still need to glaze the changing table...we'll see how long I procrastinate on this. And bedding isn't ready yet...etc. etc. etc. Point is...I feel very behind! Ready for it all to come together in the next few weeks though!

Sick Day!

I took a sick day today. 100.3 fever and what feels like a sinus infection is no fun when you're prego!! I stayed in my pj's all day and watched HGTV and I didn't know I was pregnant. I mean seriously...have you ever seen that show? Those girls on there are CRAZY!!! I don't think I believe them. How can you not know you are pregnant? How can you think your swollen feet and slightly large belly and increased appetite are just normal!! And the deliveries...WHEW! As if I wasn't scared enough of the delivery, after watching that show, I am now PETRIFIED!!! But after some tylenol and ginger ale, and homemade broccoli and cheese soup, I am feeling better and hope the fever will be gone by tomorrow.

Brian put the changing table together tonight. Why do those things always come in a million pieces and take 4 hours to put together? They are for pregnant people. You would think they would come up with a better solution. However, I love it! It is bright white, so I bought a glaze and I am going to antique it tomorrow. This should be interesting! I will post some pics of the finished product.

We are supposed to be heading to the beach this weekend with some friends that Brian works with. I really hope I am up to it, bc I know the beach get-a-ways will be few and far between when Maggie gets here so I want to take advantage of every opportunity now.

29 weeks down, 11 to go!! Counting it down!! The word for the week is UNCOMFORTABLE!

Waddle like a Duck!

Sorry so long since my last post. I can't seem to find the energy...When I get home from work I just want to go to sleep!! And no recent preggo pics either bc by the time Brian gets home I am already in my pj's and I won't let him take a picture of me then! Who knew growing a child was so exhausting!!!!

We have been up to alot lately! Last weekend we took another trip to Jackson. One of many I am sure. We visited our favorite place, Sweet Dreams, in Madison and bought some things for Maggie's nursery. We also finally decided on some living room furniture and it should be delivered in 3 weeks!! yay! I can't wait! Kelsey is taking all of our old furniture to MSU with her this semester as she is moving into a new apartment!

My parents moved back to Canebrake this week and they have been busy packing, unpacking, cleaning, and unpacking some more! Brian and I have tried to help as much as we could. Their new house is so beautiful! I can't wait for the grandkiddies to grow up playing on the lake!!

I got my baby shower invitation in the mail today! It is the cutest thing I have ever seen! I love it! Chrissy did such a great job! I love invitations. My mom and I toy with the idea of opening up a stationery store here in Hattiesburg one day. We decided to let the economy get better first! That would be my dream occupation I think! I could look at invitations all day long, especially wedding ones. That was so much fun!

I went for my 28 week check up this week. I had my glucose test done for gestational diabetes. Everything was great! My iron and sugar were good. My sugar was supposed to be below 140 and it was 99. Does that mean I'm not eating enough skittles? Well I can fix that problem:) I was convinced I am anemic bc I have been SOOOO tired, but guess thats just all part of it!

Some recent uncomfortables that won't go away!!
lower back pain...so I waddle around like a duck!
swollen feet
heartburn at its best!!!!!!!
ear aches
extreme exhaustion
can't paint my toe nails...heck, cant even cut my toe nails now

On the up side...Maggie will be here in 12 weeks or less!!! We are getting so excited to meet her. I already love her so much...I just can't imagine the happiness we are about to have! We watch her ultrasound video all the time. She is the cutest little thing!! We are getting the 4D ultrasound in 2 weeks, so I will definitely post pictures then!

Switching gears...we hired our 3rd realtor to try and sell our place in Memphis. It has been on the market now for 13 months. We even hired a professional stager to bring furniture in and stage the place. Please pray we get this thing sold! Third times a charm..right?!!!

The Ritz Carlton

So our Labor and Delivery class went great! They showed no videos...thank goodness!! But gave us lots of information and a nice tour of the hospital. Brian learned way more than he wanted to I am sure. I did too...there are some things I would just rather not know until they happen or don't happen. The class was given by a labor and delivery nurse that had been at Forrest General for 15 years. She went over the steps and procedure we will take if I go into labor, water breaks, etc. She also went over the procedure when I check into the hospital of everything I will go through. Then she told us the reasons I would have to get a C-section, and every possible thing that could go wrong with either kind of delivery. That's what I wish she would have left out of the presentation...I know its good to be prepared but I would rather not know every little thing that could go wrong. As if a girl isn't worried enough...now I have more things to worry about. She told me what all to pack in my hospital bag...so I am already starting to round up those items! You know me...PREPARED!! However, my favorite part of the whole night was the family birthplace tour. That's what they are calling the new labor and delivery area. I can't wait to stay there. Everyone was SO nice. We met all of the labor and delivery nurses, saw the 2 different rooms I will be in, the nurseries, etc. It all seemed like a Ritz Carlton compared to other hospitals I have been in so I am excited!! And we loved the girl who did the class...she said we could request her to be our nurse if she is working the day we deliver Maggie!!

All Tuckered Out!

So this past weekend I had a girls trip to Destin with 5 of my closest friends from high school. It was SO much fun! They were wonderful to me and treated me like a queen!! Great food, great friends, a good tan, and some shopping for little Maggie...not much more I could have asked for!!

But guess what I came home to....a newly painted pink nursery that I am absolutely in love with. It's so hard to tell the color in these pictures. I burst into tears when I first saw the nursery! I don't know if I was so happy it was painted, or if it was the emotions of seeing a pink room and the reality of a little girl occupying it in only 13 weeks! But none-the-less, I was SO happy and admit I have the best husband in the world!!!!!!!

And here is Brian all tuckered out after a long weekend of painting:)

I also came home to a new stroller!! My very sweet mother-in-law has gotten us way too many gifts already, but she got us the Graco stroller we registered for and I am SOOOO excited! I love it and love the design on it!! It is the new aluminum ones that are lighter and easier to fold up. Here it is!!

Pregnancy Update: I went to the doc last week for my 26 week apt. Maggie is still breech, but we hope she turns at some point, otherwise a C-section will be done. My doc says I should be able to feel her shift directions in the next few weeks so we will see! She weighs 2 lbs now and is growing like a little weed!! I had to fill out all of my labor and delivery paperwork and go ahead and pay for delivery. That's really when it hit home that she is coming right around the corner!! They wanted all paperwork filled out and complete before the 3rd trimester bc that is when alot of women go into preterm labor. Anywho...I signed the epideral consent form. I told her to bring on the pain meds!!!!!!

Brian and I are going to our first labor and delivery class at the hospital tonight. We will get a tour of the birthing facilities, and the maternity suites. Forrest General just redid this whole wing of the hospital and I have heard it is very nice so I am excited to see it! I just hope they don't make us watch birthing videos. I will either pass out or throw up...I cannot handle it!!! I would rather just be super surprised at what happens when its my turn!!! So wish me luck!
